Celtic Women International

Welcome to the Chicago Branch of
Celtic Women International!

The new Chicago local branch of Celtic Women International offers a series of "Third Tuesday" monthly meetings featuring exciting presentations on a variety of fascinating Celtic topics - arts, music, history, culture, poetry, celtic spirituality, etc. Each regular meeting also includes plenty of time for socializing, mingling, and networking with other women of Celtic origin or interest.

All regular "Third Tuesday" meetings take place at the Irish American Heritage Center located at 4626 N. Knox Avenue in Chicago. The meetings begin at 7:00 pm with a half-hour of socializing, networking and refreshments; a formal program begins at 7:30, followed by an opportunity to talk with program presenter(s) individually and to continue discussions with fellow attendees. Donations are accepted at the door to help defray the costs of room rental, postage and printing.

Goals of the Chicago Branch
The goals of the local Chicago Branch are identical to those of its parent, Celtic Women International. Celtic Women International (CWI) exists to honor, celebrate and promote Celtic women and their heritage. CWI is a world-wide non-profit membership organization dedicated to recognizing the contributions that Celtic women have made to the world. CWI honors these by sharing their stories of success, which may inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

In addition, we hope to assist area women by consciously helping them build a social network with other Celtic women, both in their local Celtic cultural interests and business initiatives.

Frequently Asked Questions:
  • Do I have to be born in Ireland to attend the "Third Tuesday" meetings?
No! If there is a particular "Third Tuesday" program that interests you, please feel welcome to attend! We're happy that you share our interests.

  • Do I have to be a member of CWI to attend your meetings or events?
No! You don't have to be a CWI member, although there are some benefits to memberships that you might consider. See CWI's Membership page for more information.

  • Can men attend a "Third Tuesday" meeting or other event?
Sure! If the topic is of interest to them. Since our mission and goals is to recognize the achievements of Celtic women, we're happy when anyone supports us in this endeavor!

  • I am really interested in Celtic Women International and your local branch, but I can never make it to a "Third Tuesday" meeting. Can I still be on your mailing list?
We'd love to add to you our list. And we hope to eventually sponsor or co-sponsor additional events on different days and possibly different locations. At some point, we will take a survey to see if a different regular meeting day would work better for most of the people on our mailing list.

  • What do I need to do in order to attend a Third Tuesday?
Just show up! Check the Calendar for the next event.

  • How could I get involved with planning, publicizing or helping organize future programs or events? Just e-mail Maureen Smith at msmith@luc.edu with CWI or Celtic Women in the subject line of your e-mail.
