Memories of the Celtic Women International, Ltd Conference 2000

Celtic women from all seven Celtic nations gathered again for a weekend that included music, song, poetry and a feeling of electricity as we discovered more about our Celtic heritage. Something new this year was an all musician concert, open to the public. Very well attended and enjoyed by all. See the larger images by clicking on the thumbnails below.

1. Maggie Cronin portrayed "Mary Ann McCracken 1798"
2. Flora MacDonald Gammon showed another side of her multi faceted talent with an excerpt from a monodrama about her name sake, "Flora MacDonald: A Legacy of Honor"
3. Joan Gill told "Stories from the Isle of Man"
4. Flora Mac Donald Gammon started our day with Scottish Music.
5. Dr. Amy Hale returned with "Arthur and Friends: the Enduring Legacy of King Arthur in Cornwall"
6. Sian James, direct from Newtown, Wales, was a FABULOUS treat as she shared her musical talents as a harpist, singer and composer.
7. Our Vendors' section was bright, beuatiful and bountiful this year!

13. Dr. Amy Hale from Cornwall spoke of "New Directions in Celtic Studies"
14. The Honor of the Exceptional Celtic Woman Award for 2000 went to well deserving Ann Treven Jenkins,
Cornish historian, teacher, author and the first woman Grand Bard of Cornwall.
15. Old friends had time to visit and new friendships were made at the Banquet.
16. The Wrigleys encouraging everyone to buy their CD so they don't have to smuggle them back into Scotland.
17. The Wrigley Sisters, twins, from the Orkney Islands off Scotland's windy coast, entertained one and all
with delightful stories and effervescent music from the fiddle, guitar and piano.

18.  Betsy McGovern and Beth Patterson from the Poor Clares of New Orleans entertained us with Irish Music
19. Friday afternoon found us listening to a Celtic Artist Panel of Cindy Matyi and Patrick Gallagher,
moderated by our own John Gleeson, from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.
